An all-colour affair from Hindi GECs for Holi
Hindi GEC has left no stone unturned to celebrate Holi. There are various specials planned across channels.
Holi is round the corner and the spirit of colours and joy is in the air. Capturing it this year as well, Hindi general entertainment channels (GEC) has left no stone unturned to play Holi with its viewers.
From the STAR Network, Star Plus will see host King Khan with celebs Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta on the ‘Holi Hungama’ special of KBC – SRK on Thursday, March 1, 2007 9.00 pm. Joining in are specials on ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ and ‘Kumkum’ as well.
For Star One, Holi celebrations began February 28, 2007 with the Holi special on ‘Indian Comedy Show’ on February 28, 2007. The other show set to throw some colours is ‘Colgate Max Fresh Antakshari - The Great Challenge’ on March 5, 2007.
Sony Entertainment Television has Holi celebrations on both of SET’s recently launched shows ‘Jeete Hai Jiske Liye’ and ‘Durgesh Nandini’. In the case of SAB, the key primetime serials like ‘FIR’ and ‘Left Right Left’ will add more colour to television.
Zee TV’s Holi celebrations are on similar lines where daily soaps like ‘Mamta’, ‘Saath Phere’ and ‘Jab Love Hua’ will have Holi specific episodes.
Even as Holi has always been a colourful affair for television in India, one has to say that the specials seen on the likes of STAR Plus and Sony in 2006 are missing this year. Some of the best ratings were seen last year for Holi programming, across channels. Whether the case would be the same this year as well, is a wait and watch.
