Baba Ramdev’s TV channels get clearances from MIB
Three TV channels - Aastha Tamil, Aastha Kannad and Aastha Telugu owned by Vedic Broadcasting Ltd will telecast spiritual content
The year long wait is finally over with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting giving clearance to three TV channels owned by Vedic Broadcasting Ltd (VBL). The three TV channels namely Aastha Tamil, Aastha Kannad and Aastha Telugu will be showing spiritual content.
VBL is headed by Acharya Balakrishna who is a close aide of Yoga teacher, Baba Ramdev. According to Balakrishna’s website, the broadcasting company which also owns Astha & Astha Bhajan Channel “was part of his vision.” For almost a year, the ministry of Information and Broadcasting had held back permissions of over 100 TV channels compelling an industry delegation to raise the issue before the Prime Minister’s office.
According to a report in The Asian Age daily newspaper, the clearances have come after intervention from the PMO.
