DD FreeDish: Prasar Bharati invites applications for MPEG-4 & MPEG-2 slots 

The allotment of the vacant slots is for the period June 4, 2024 to March 31, 2025, for MPEG 4; for MPEG-2 the period is June 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025

Prasar Bharati has invited applications for the allotment of vacant MPEG-2 and MPEG- 4 slots through the 77th and 78th online e-auctions. 


The allotment of the vacant slot for MPEG-2 is for the period June 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, while the allotment of the vacant slot for MPEG-4 is for the period from June 4, 2024 to March 31, 2025. 

 

For MPEG-2 slots, the e-auction is starting from May 28. The DD Free Dish MPEG-4 e-auction will tentatively be held from May 30. 


The pubcaster has categorised TV channels in different buckets based on the genres/language of the channel for MPEG-2 auctions.  


The reserve price for Bucket A+, which comprises all GEC (Hindi/Urdu) channels, is Rs 17.69 crore. Bucket A, which includes all movie channels (Hindi/Urdu), has a reserve price of Rs 15.24 crore. 


Bucket B, which comprises Music (Hindi) Channels, Sports (Hindi) Channels, all channels of the Bhojpuri language and all the other remaining genres has a reserve price of Rs 14.99 crore. The reserve price for News & Current Affairs (Hindi/Urdu) that fall under Bucket C is Rs 15.78 crore. 


The reserve price for Bucket D, which has devotional/spritual/ ayush/ all genres of Marathi, Punjabi, and news (English) channels is Rs 15.07 crore. Bucket R1, which has all channels in languages not covered above, has been priced at Rs 11.07 crore.
