Entertainment genre holds big promise for TV: Chairperson & MD, BAG Network
Anurradha Prasad, Chairperson & Managing Director, BAG Network - BAG Films & Media Ltd., speaks on the 10th anniversary of E24, the premier destination for Bollywood music and news
BAG Films and Media Ltd, which owns news and entertainment channels, recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its entertainment channel E24, Bollywood.
BAG Films launched E24 in March 2008 under the Broadcast 24 umbrella. Over the years, the channel has become a premier destination for Bollywood music and news. While there are limited number of players in this genre, E24 has achieved the leadership position owing to its differential programming strategy.
Speaking on the 10th anniversary of E24, Anurradha Prasad, Chairperson & Managing Director, BAG Network - BAG Films & Media Ltd, said, “We were among the first few players who entered the Bollywood news genre, and the last 10 years have been a great learning experience. The popularity of this genre has increased phenomenally and we have witnessed encouraging growth in viewership numbers too. And this trend is likely to continue.”
“If we talk about the entertainment genre in particular, Bollywood content has become a highly consumed entity and it is slated to witness the next level of growth,” she added.
Recently, News 24, the Hindi news channel owned by the group, unveiled its revamped look. With the country’s general elections due next year, the news genre is expecting a surge in viewership and revenue numbers in 2018-19.
