The Ministry of information and Broadcasting has issued an advisory for ensuring strict compliance to the specific Programmes Codes under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995, after it was observed that some television channels were telecasting content which not in accordance to it.

The Ministry has, therefore, urged television channels to refrain from broadcasting content that is likely to instigate violence or that which contains anything against the maintenance of law and order, or which promotes anti-national attitudes. Channels are also requested to avoid showing content that contains anything affecting the integrity of the nation or anything that criticises, maligns or slanders any individual in person or certain groups, segments of social, public and moral life of the country.
