The Viacom18-Sony merger deal has been called off, according to media reports.
Reliance Jio has decided to retain a majority stake and control over the management, reports have said.
As per earlier reports, the deal for the merger of Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) India and Viacom18 was likely to be announced in the third week of September.
Reports also say that some content and production houses have expressed interst in partnering with Jio.
If the deal comes through, the merged entity will together own 77 TV channels, two OTT platforms, three film studios and two digital content studios.
The talks had resumed in July.
