Two days after the Karnataka High Court ruled that Kannada news channel Power TV does not have the requisite permission for operation, the channel has reportedly gone off air.

According to a media report, the court had said that the channel did not have licence from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for news transmission.

The court order came after cases were filed against the channel by JD(S) MLC H M Ramesh Gowda and an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.

The court was told by the petitioners that the channel failed to comply with orders issued in April by the court to stop broadcasting as they did not have the requisite licence.

According to a media report, following the court order Power TV has now stopped news broadcasts. They are now showing a blank screen with the message “Satyameva Jayate” or ‘Truth Will Prevail’.
