At the recent 21st edition of the India Today Conclave, Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson and Executive Editor-in-Chief of the India Today Group, delivered a thought-provoking speech emphasizing the nuanced role of media in contemporary discourse. Purie underscored that the media cannot assume the role of the Opposition, asserting that unfair allegations of bias undermine its function as a medium.
Addressing a diverse audience at the Conclave, Purie elucidated, "We cannot present another side equally, strongly if it doesn't exist. We are observers in this boxing match, not players. If one side is weak or absent, we cannot jump into the ring." She emphasized the distinction between medium and message, affirming that media serves as a conduit for information, rather than an active participant in shaping political narratives.
The 21st edition of the India Today Conclave which was held on March 15-16, 2024, in New Delhi, centered on redefining India's narrative on the global stage.
