Over 60 channels were found to have violated the Programme and Advertisement Codes last year, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, say media reports.
While advisories were issued against 30 channels, 39 others were issued warnings by the ministry.
Three channels were ordered to go off-air for the violations.
MIB minister Prakash Javadekar said three advisories have been issued to private satellite TV channels in the last two months.
Private satellite TV channels must adhere to the Programme and Advertising Codes and necessary action will be taken in case of violations, the minister has said according to media reports.
