MIB likely to review C-Band allocation plan
The government was planning to reserve the C-Band of radio frequencies for 5G and 6G use
The I&B ministry may start a review of the government's plan to reserve the C-Band of radio frequencies for 5G and 6G use, media networks have reported.
A ministry official was quoted as saying that it will a first-of-its-kind review to be carried out by the government.
This comes after associations like the IBDF urged the government not to auction spectrum in the C-band (3,700-4,200 MHz) as it is also used for broadcasting services.
According to the federation, allocating this band for other services would disturb the broadcasting sector because of the possibility of interference of terrestrial transmissions with the satellite signals.
