A month after saying that Sony Pictures Networks India was gearing up for a challenging FY 2025, CEO and MD NP Singh on Friday announced his departure from the position as he embarks on an advisory role in the company.

Singh has been associated with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) for 25 years and has been involved in several significant developments under his leadership.

From introducing the Group’s OTT platform SonyLIV in 2013, to attempting a merger with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), which eventually did not see the light of the day, Singh was at the helm of several big decisions.

An industry veteran with over 44 years of corporate experience, Singh joined SPNI in 1999 as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In 2014, he was appointed CEO of the company.

During his long innings at SPNI, Singh has also served as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). He was also instrumental in hiring fresh talent from across the country to bring in fresh ideas for enriching Sony's talent pool.

Before joining SPNI in 1999, Singh had held leadership positions across Finance and Operations domains in organizations like Modi Xerox and Spice Telecom.

Besides being the MD and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India, Singh is on the Board of Directors of the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF). He is also Director on multiple company boards.

An alumnus of the Delhi School of Economics, from where he obtained his Master’s degree, Singh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi. He is also a rank holder of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

NP Singh will continue as the CEO and MD at SPNI till a successor is found. “I will continue to lead SPNI until we find the right person to take over. We have begun a structured succession planning process for my successor and hope to have exciting news to share in the near future. Finding the right fit is our top priority," he said.
