“NewsX had everything but not at the same time”
We didn’t have good distribution, marketing or content all at once. Now, everything will come together, says Jehangir Pocha of NewsX
Almost four months ago, Kartikeya Sharma led Information TV bought NewsX for an undisclosed sum. And looks like NewsX is benefitting from ITV’s news gathering network as it runs eight regional channels, apart from two newspapers and a news gathering agency. The other major issue with NewsX was distribution which is being addressed.
NewsX’s Jehangir Pocha said, “We are back on Airtel, Dish TV, Digistar, Reliance and we will be back on Tata Sky in some days. We are signing contracts and we will be available across the nation as any other channel.”
There have been some major developments in the channel after RK Arora, former CEO of BAG Network, joined NewsX as CEO a few days ago. The channel has soft launched a new look featuring a different logo. Pocha explained, “The look has changed. And it is undoubtedly one of the most attractive across channels. It’s easy to read and watch. It’s a great design and it gives you a very clean open screen with vivid and bright colours, providing you all the data that you require. But there’s no name change in the plan.”
With funding, NewsX is slowly cracking its distribution network and Pocha looks very confident about the future. He said, “There are plans to promote the brand and make it more visible. In news channels, the main thing is distribution. NewsX’s problem was we had everything but never at the same time. We didn’t have good distribution, and then we never had marketing. We had marketing but then we never had good content. Now, everything will come together and we will become a strong force in projecting our channel in the market.”
