Parliament passes Digitisation Bill
After getting Lok Sabha’s nod, the Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Second Amendment Bill was cleared by the Rajya Sabha on December 19, 2011.

After getting the okay from the Lok Sabha, the Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Second Amendment Bill was cleared by the Rajya Sabha on December 19, 2011. The Bill will now be sent to the President for her nod before it is notified as an Act.
The Bill is aimed to regulate cable operators and digitise the analog TV network across the country in a phased manner by December 31, 2014. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been authorised under the Bill to fix the tariff for a-la-carte basis.
