Padma Vibhushan Shri Ramoji Rao was the personification of leadership for all of us in the media industry. I am deeply saddened by the passing of this Media Baron, the Founder of Ramoji Film City and the ETV Network.
His unparalleled contributions to the worlds of media and movies will always be celebrated and remembered.
The ETV Network has always been, and continues to be, compared to the Mecca of the media world. As the saying goes, if you want to understand FMCG, Hindustan Unilever is the place to go, and for media, it was ETV.
I was fortunate to work with both organizations.
Flashing back down memory lane to my visit to Ramoji Rao Studio during my days at Network 18, I requested a quick courtesy meeting with Shri Ramoji through the HR/Admin head. To my surprise, he immediately gave us time to meet.
There were many thoughts and questions in my mind, like an excited student meeting his idol. I really wanted to ask him a lot, but when we met, I couldn't ask anything. I spent all my time observing his style of talking and walking in the room with a pleasant smile. He met us promptly and provided a lot of insights into the media and entertainment industry.
