SPNI launches Marathi GEC to expand its regional share
After Bengali channel Sony Aath, SPNI ventures into Marathi with a new GEC
Sony Pictures Network India is planning to expand its regional bouquet with the launch of a Marathi general entertainment channel (GEC.)
According to sources, Ajay Bhalwankar will lead the new GEC. He has been with SPNI (Sony Pictures Network India) for five years. Initially as a programming head for SET from November 2009 to June 2011 and then returning to SET as Chief Creative Director in 2014.
This will be the second regional property from SPNI after its Bengali channel Sony Aath.
Exchange4media.com reached out to SPNI for confirmation. “Yes, we shall be launching a Marathi channel soon. We shall share details on the date and who will be leading it later,” said an official statement.
