STAR Plus is introducing a new show ‘Sangam’ in the evening prime time slot of 7 pm. This new half-hour daily premieres on August 20. With this, the channel will fill up its evening slot of 7 pm, which is currently running repeats. This will be Fox Television Studios’ second show in the evening slot of STAR Plus, and would extend the channel’s primetime from 7 pm onwards. Fox Television Studios had also brought ‘Meri Awaaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni’ in the prime time slot.
Prem Kamath, Head-Marketing Communications, STAR India, said, “We are introducing ‘Sangam’ at a slot which has not been explored well by the television channels in a big way. By launching it at 7 pm, we are essentially looking at extending the primetime slot.” Moreover, Kamath expects the show to win leadership, in terms of highest viewership, in that slot.
On the marketing front, the channel has decided to take both the on-air and off-air promotions route. The marketing head from STAR, on explaining the marketing plan, said, “On-air would be covered by STAR channels, while for the off-air promotions, we have planned integrated campaigns including print, radio and Internet.” He further said that the channel is in the process of getting media partners for the show too.
The story of ‘Sangam’, which is about a young girl from a conservative family, targets young adults, particularly young women.
