The Zee-Sony merger failed to take off because of regulatory issues, said Tony Vinciquerra, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, during a company meeting.

Sony Pictures is considering other merger and acquisition opportunities in India, Vinciquerra has said, as per media reports.

He was quoted as saying there are "several other conversations going on" to finalise a deal.

Vinciquerra has also said that the company is considering other candidates as to lead SPN in India since NP Singh has decided to step down from his role.

On May 24, Singh announced that he was moving on as SPNI Managing Director and CEO.

Earlier this week, media networks reported that Sony Pictures Networks India has appointed Gaurav Banerjee as its new CEO.
