The broadcasting sector needs to be given infrastructure status to be able to access facilities like capital borrowing, Trai Chairman R S Sharma has said, according to media reports.
He has also said the government needs to consider sharing of infrastructure to be allowed in TV business.
Capital borrowing will enable TV players to upgrade their equipment and infrastructure, Sharma is reported as saying.
He has also recommended having a “comprehensive policy guideline” for promoting research and manufacturing of hardware and software specific to broadcasting
