In a global address to over 3,000 employees across the globe, Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), said the company’s goal was to regain the position of being the No.1 M&E company.
Goenka spoke about the intrinsic value of the company and encouraged employees to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit and chart newer paths to success.
According to the speech, that e4m has access to, Goenka said, “Let me begin by stating some facts about us, which all of you should also believe in. Nothing can beat the entrepreneurial spirit of ZEE. Nothing can distract us from achieving the pole position. There is a reason why global brands are always interested in us. No one can beat an Indian Company from winning India’s heart! ZEE’s most valuable asset is its Human Capital We have immense potential to touch newer heights.”
On the termination of the merger with Sony, Goenka said, "On the envisaged merger with Sony, all I would like to say is that the board has taken a note of the communication received from Sony and all the legal options are being evaluated and implemented as per the law of the land. I remain grateful to each one of you for the support and commitment you have displayed during this time. Beyond this, I only want to say that we should now move forward as a team, but more importantly, as a family."
Goenka said that he believed that the intrinsic value of ZEE and the fundamentals of business remain unmatched.
"ZEE continues to be a truly unique and valuable asset that harbours the capabilities to deliver returns to its shareholders. We have always set trends for the industry to follow, and we must continue on this path of innovation going forward. We remain guided by our esteemed Board, comprising members that have a rich expertise across sectors.
Do remember, that it is the individual strength of each one of us that comes together to build a formidable force and makes ZEE the best in the industry. Every single one of you has the potential to make a difference, and I would encourage you take on more responsibilities to fuel the entrepreneurial spirit which ZEE stands for."
He also added that the industry was witnessing rapid changes and these winds of change are giving ZEE a new shape.
"We have to mould ourselves to be well-positioned to capitalise on the opportunities coming our way. We have been leaders over the last three decades and have delivered value to our stakeholders, year after year. We need to continue building on this momentum and fire on all cylinders. Our Company has all the capabilities to build a robust future, with the best in-class talent and an innovative yet competitive spirit. So, I am looking at each one of you, to believe this and march forward."
He further mentioned, "All I want to say is that, at ZEE, we have never looked behind. We keep moving forward, chasing opportunities, opening new doors, and charting newer paths to success. This is what we will continue to do. So let us together, put in the required hard work to regain our No.1 position in the industry.”
