Phantom Studios, a shareholder of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, has filed a criminal defamation case against Culver Max Entertainment (Sony Pictures Networks India) and its entity Bangla Entertainment for calling it a proxy for ZEEL and its chairman Puneet Goenka, according to media reports.
Phantom has claimed that Sony Group has accused it of acting on under the influence of Zee and Goenka in the media and before multiple legal forums. The company said it has been acting to protect its commercial interests and there is no other motive.
The complaint filed by Phantom names Sony Group’s president-designate Ravi Ahuja, India CEO NP Singh and other board members.
Phantom owns Zee shares worth 1.3 million.
