Arup Ghosh today confirmed to exchange4media that he has stepped down from Channel 7. “I have quit today,” he said, adding, “I have some interesting projects in mind and will be considering them.”

Ghosh had joined Channel 7 in December prior to its launch and, as Director-News, was one of the core members involved in developing the content of the channel. The editorial team of Channel 7 used to report to him.

On the reasons for leaving the channel barely a month after it has been on air, he said, “There is no negative reason for this move. After I left NDTV, I was involved in building two channels from scratch—Sahara Samay and now Channel 7. It’s just that I have more interesting projects in hand and am looking forward to them.”

On his role in Channel 7, he said, “I have been involved in the entire recruitment process and we were working as a team. The channel had just six people on board when II joined them.”

Ghosh had quit Sahara Samay on November 9, 2004. He has worked in the print medium for 13 years for publications such as Hindustan Times, The Statesman and The Times of India. He then moved to NDTV as a correspondent. Subsequently, he quit NDTV to start his own enterprise. Since the last three years, he had been associated with Sahara Samay Rashtriya as the channel’s national head.
