Ranjeet Kate gets ‘strategic assignments’ in Times Group rejig

Kate, who has been leading Vijay Karnataka, Bangalore Mirror and Western Mirrors, will move back to Mumbai from Bengaluru

In its latest shuffle on Friday, Times Group has assigned senior executive Ranjeet Kate, who has been leading Vijay Karnataka newspaper since 2015, a new role in Mumbai.

Kate will be handling “projects in the language spaces as well as other strategic assignments”, as per an email sent out to the staff on Friday by Sivakumar Sundaram, Chairman Executive Committee at Bennett, Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group), announcing Kate’s new role among a few other shuffles at the top.

“Ranjeet will move back to Mumbai and work with me,” Sundaram wrote in the email.

Based in Bengaluru, Kate has been the CEO of Metropolitan Media Company Limited - A Times Group Co. that runs Vijay Karnataka newspaper since 2015.

As per his Linkedin Profile, he has had the additional responsibilities of Bangalore Mirror and Western Mirrors (Mumbai, Pune & Ahmedabad).
Kate has been Times Group’s loyalist and has served the company in various roles over the past two decades. He was Director-BCCL and Director-Response and Languages along with being a board member of World Wide Media.

Kate had earlier worked with ITC for more than three years, and with Marico as General Manager-Marketing. He also joined Saregama HMV as VP-Marketing in 2000 and worked there for two years.
