Sanjay Gupta, Country Manager - India for Google, has been elevated as the President for Asia Pacific. His journey at Google is nothing short of extraordinary. From joining the company as the Country Head and Vice President for Google India, Gupta has played a pivotal role in steering the company’s growth over the years. Under his leadership, Google has significantly expanded its services, catering to the unique needs of its customers.

In an internal memo to Google employees, Philipp Schindler, SVP & Chief Business Officer at Google, stated that since 2019, Sanjay Gupta has contributed incredible momentum to Google's India business.

Elaborating on Gupta's achievements as the Country Head, Schindler said that Google's x-channel Ads business has more than doubled under Gupta's leadership. He also highlighted how he helped deliver business transformations and boosted momentum for Google's India businesses.

Expressing excitement on his new innings, Gupta took to LinkedIn and said, “As I start my new role as Google's APAC President, this serves as a powerful reminder of the role we play as an enabler. APAC isn't just any region; it's the heart of global growth and innovation, home to half the world's population and poised to lead the tech revolution”.

Prior to joining Google, Sanjay Gupta held the position of Country Manager, Star & Disney India. He played a pivotal role in Star becoming the largest media company in India and was instrumental in extending their traditional television content to digital consumers through Hotstar.

Gupta was known to take bullish risks at Star.

He was responsible for curating the network’s strategy and vision in entertainment, sports, digital and studios. With over two decades of experience in the television industry, Gupta also led innovations in branded entertainment content and introduced new content and genres across regions. He was also deeply rooted in building the sports business through acquisition of rights for marquee content for events like the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Gupta has also expanded traditional television content to digital platforms through Hotstar and overseeing the adoption of HD channels. He has been instrumental in curating Hotstar.

At Hindustan Unilever, Gupta led marketing for two of the company's critical segments - Oral and Home care. At Bharti Airtel, he was the Chief Marketing Officer for the mobile business, where he spearheaded several successful sales and marketing initiatives.

Earlier, Sanjay Gupta had won the exchange4media Influencer of the Year Award 2019 for being instrumental in driving Star’s growth. He was responsible for curating strategy and vision in entertainment, sports, digital and studios. 

Sanjay Gupta is a postgraduate from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata, and is an engineer from Delhi College of Engineering.
