Shekhar Gupta has relinquished charge as CEO of The Indian Express Group. He will, however, continue as Group Editor-In-Chief. Meanwhile, George Varghese has been appointed as the new CEO of The Indian Express Group.
This development was announced by Gupta in an internal mail sent to Express staff on August 26, 2013, where he stated, “I am pleased to also inform you, meanwhile, about the return of another Express Group veteran, George Varghese, as the Company’s CEO, to assist Viveck (Goenka, Founder & CMD, The Indian Express Group) who will be fully hands-on.”
Varghese had earlier had a 10-year stint with The Indian Express between 1988 and 1998, where he was Chief General Manager. In his last role, Varghese was President - Distribution Business at KEC International.
