Urmilesh, Executive Editor, Rajya Sabha TV has put in his papers. Urmilesh handed his resignation through Gurdeep Singh Sappal, CEO, Rajya Sabha TV to Vice President of India Hamid Ansari. The Vice President has accepted his resignation.

Though there is no official word on the reasons behind this move, an official connected with the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, on conditions of anonymity, revealed that the movement was due to some “administrative and editorial differences”.

Urmilesh had been working with Rajya Sabha TV since October 2010. He was responsible for all the Hindi language programmes of the channel, including the production and distribution of the concept. It may be noted that the post of Editor of Rajya Sabha TV is equivalent to that of a Joint Secretary.

Urmilesh joined Navbharat Times in the 1980s, after being selected at an all India test sponsored by Navbharat Times. He worked with both, the Delhi and Patna editions of Navbharat Times. During his tenure with Navbharat Times Patna, he wrote a book ‘Bihar ka Sach’. He received the Times Fellowship and wrote another book, ‘Jharkhand – Jadui Zameen Ka Andhera’.

After moving on from Navbharat Times Patna, Urmilesh joined Hindustan Delhi, where he worked for 13 years. He had worked with Business Bhaskar as Political Editor for two years before joining Rajya Sabha TV.
