Vandrevala is new Motorola India head

Former Tata Teleservices chairman Firdose Vandrevala today joined telecom multinational Motorola as head of Indian operations. Vandrevala was associated with the Tata group for over 33 years at different capacities in steel, power and telecom.

Former Tata Teleservices chairman Firdose Vandrevala today joined telecom multinational Motorola as head of Indian operations. Vandrevala was associated with the Tata group for over 33 years at different capacities in steel, power and telecom. He recently quit the post of chairman of Tata Teleservices to make room for the group chairman Ratan N Tata.

Senior Motorola officials said, “Motorola places high importance on the India market as part of its global strategy. Vandrevala’s abilities, coupled with Motorola’s technological leadership, are expected to help the company realise its growth objectives for India, which include next-generation technologies.”

They added that Vandrevala would also be responsible for enhancing Motorola’s ability to support integrated solutions for customers.

A graduate from IIT, Kharagpur, Vandrevala began his journey in the Tata group on the advice of his professor. Ever since, his climb to the seat of the managing director of Tata Power in September 2002 had been a smooth running.

An electrical engineer by profession and after 29 years in Tata Steel, he used his education to steer Tata Power in the right direction.
