In an interesting move, Viacom18 Media has appointed Raj Nayak as the Chief Executive Officer of Colors. Nayak is no stranger to the strenuous broadcasting industry. At present, Nayak is the owner of Aidem Media, which had currently been in the news for exiting from its relation with NDTV Ad Sales.
It is still unclear what the road ahead for Aidem would be.
Nayak replaced Rajesh Kamat, who has been responsible for setting up Colors and taking it to the leadership position that the channel enjoys today.
Nayak would be reporting to Haresh Chawla, Group CEO – Viacom18.
In a prepared statement, Chawla said, “Given Raj’s extensive experience and a proven track record, we’re confident of him charting out and leading COLORS’ next phase of growth.” He further added, “Raj will be singularly focused on consolidating COLORS’ dominance in the GEC space.”
Prior to launching Aidem, Nayak was CEO, NDTV Media Limited for over a period of seven years. He also spent 10 years at STAR TV Group, where he was the Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing and was responsible for strategy, packaging and marketing for all STAR Channels as also the revenue for the Group. He was also on the Board of Vijay TV & Indya.com.
