Now, Prime Video to enforce password-sharing controls in India
As per reports, Amazon Prime Video users will now be able to log in from a maximum of 5 devices
Amazon Prime Video has said that it will be introducing password-sharing rules in India from January 2025.
Users will be able to log in from a maximum of 5 devices (with 2 TVs), media reports said.
This October, Prime Video said that it will start incorporating ads in its shows and movies for Indian viewers from 2025, as part of a global expansion plan that includes other regions like Brazil, Japan, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. The move is meant to raise funds for content investments while offering an ad-supported viewing option alongside the existing ad-free model.
In July 2023, Netflix announced that it was ending password sharing in India and other markets like Kenya, Indonesia and Croatia after testing it out in countries like the US and Canada.
August 2024 saw announcing that it was intensifying its efforts to restrain password sharing to enhance subscriber growth.
