Aroon Purie, Editor-in-Chief and Chairman, India Today Group, has been announced as Chairman of Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP) at the ongoing FIPP World Magazine Congress in London on May 6, 2009. It is a historic day for Indian publishers and media owners as Purie is the first Indian to chair an international media body.

Aroon Purie announced as Chairman of FIPP

Aroon Purie, Editor-in-Chief and Chairman, India Today Group, has been announced as Chairman of Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP) at the ongoing FIPP World Magazine Congress in London on May 6, 2009. It is a historic day for Indian publishers and media owners as Purie is the first Indian to chair an international media body.

As reported by exchange4media earlier, the FIPP Board had last year approved the formation of its Asia Pacific Council. Purie had been selected to chair the Council. The Council had been created to advise the FIPP Board on existing and proposed FIPP events and activities in the region.

As Vice-Chairman of the FIPP Management Board, Purie was the senior-most member from the Asia Pacific region on the Board.
