BPL Mobile has decided to move its media business worth Rs 15-20 crore to Carat from Madison. The movement follows Airtel’s decision to offer its media account to Madison, shifting it from Carat.

In the media business, a movement often triggers another movement. Airtel’s decision to bestow its media responsibilities on Madison has also resulted in such a scene. The account shift had put in question BPL’s relation with Madison. Owing to the situation of conflict, industry sources say that BPL Mobile has now moved its media business to Carat. The account is pegged at Rs 15-20 crore.

The previous financial year had a very different scene in terms of the relationship between agencies and clients. The Airtel review took place in April 2004. Following that, in June 2004, Airtel decided to partner Madison for its media duties. The new association of BPL and Carat comes in the wake of this change.

Dwelling on the development, Sam Balsara, MD, Madison Media, said, “Unfortunately, we are not in a position to continue handling the BPL account. They were an excellent client, we enjoyed working with them and we wish them all the best.”
