Issam Bachaalani has been elevated as Managing Director, Colgate-Palmolive India. He will take over from current India MD Prabha Parameswaran, who has been promoted to President of Colgate-Palmolive’s Africa and Eurasia Division.
Colgate Palmolive India has informed the BSE that its Board of Directors on August 18, 2014 passed a resolution appointing Bachaalani as the MD of the company for a period of five years with effect from October 1, 2014.
Bachaalani has been with Colgate Palmolive for over 23 years in several key functions. Most recently, he was Vice-President and General Manager of the Global Toothbrush Division.
He had joined Colgate-Palmolive in 1991 in the Global Marketing Development Programme. In 1996, he joined the Central Europe/ Russia Division as Marketing Manager. In 1999, he was promoted to Marketing Manager, Household Surface Care for Colgate-Palmolive Mexico, and later became Marketing Director, Colgate-Palmolive Dominican Republic. In 2002, Bachaalani was promoted to Marketing Director of Colgate-Palmolive South Africa.
In 2006, he was promoted to General Manager, Colgate-Palmolive Hong Kong, where he and his team strengthened toothpaste market shares. In 2009, he was promoted to General Manager for Colgate-Palmolive Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
Meanwhile, Parameswaran, who was appointed as India MD two years ago, will relocate to Switzerland in her new role.
