Day 2 of the ongoing FICCI Frames 2008 in Mumbai concluded with the BAF Awards. The Awards honour excellence in animation, visual effects and gaming segments of the entertainment industry. This year, the popular ‘Return of Hanuman’ bagged the BAF Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
Awards were given in 17 categories, including Animated Feature Film, Animated TV Episode, PC Games, Mobile Games, Console Games, Best VFX in a Motion Picture, Best VFX in a TV Episode, Best VFX in a Commercial, among others.
The major winners this year include Bajaj Pulsar TVC for Best VFX in a Commercial; Bollywood movie ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ for Best VFX Shot of the Year; Little Krishna for Best VFX in a TV Episode; Hanuman Returns for Mobile Games; and ‘Yamadonga’ for Best VFX in a Motion Picture, among others.
This year, 406 entries were received for the BAF Awards from India, the US, France, Canada, Italy, Spain, and South Africa. Given the number of entries received and the growing interest in the Awards, the FICCI BAF Awards have come a long way since its inception in 2004, when only five entries were received.
