Gireesh Sanghi of Vaarttha nominated by Congress as Rajya Sabha candidate from Andhra Pradesh
Gireesh Sanghi, Chairman and Managing Director of Vaarttha, the newspaper from Andhra Pradesh has been nominated as Rajya Sabha candidate from Congress in Andhra Pradesh. Sanghi is the second media baron to be chosen by congress to represent itself after Vijay Darda of Lokmat was put up from Maharashtra last week. Darda is the son of late Congress leader Jawaharlal Darda and chief of the Lokmat group of publications.

Sanghi talking to exchange4media after his nomination shared " This is a very humbling moment and I am looking forward to serving my nation, state of Andhra and our industry on selection to this august house" Both Sanghi and Darda are expected to sail through and the process is a formality. Sanghi is one of the five nominees from Andhra and Darda is one of the two nominees from Maharashtra on behalf of congress.
