I&B Secretary Asha Swarup moves out
It is learnt that Asha Swarup, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, is taking up the new role of Chief Secretary Himachal Pradesh. Swarup will be taking over from 1972-batch IAS officer Ravi Dhingra. The new I&B Secretary is expected to be finalised in a few days.
It is learnt that Asha Swarup, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, is taking up the new role of Chief Secretary Himachal Pradesh. Swarup will be taking over from 1972-batch IAS officer Ravi Dhingra. The new I&B Secretary is expected to be finalised in a few days.
A 1973-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, Swarup had taken up the role of I&B Secretary on April 4, 2007. She was earlier Special Secretary and Financial Advisor to the Department of Commerce and Ministry of Textiles.
During her career, Swarup has held prestigious assignments such as Joint Secretary in the Ministries of Rural Development, Human Resource Development, and Youth Affairs & Sports. At the state level, she was Chairperson, HP State Electricity Board and Principal Secretary, Power, besides holding other crucial portfolio such as Principal Secretary, Home & Vigilance, and Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare.
