Jet Airways appoints Starcom as media AoR
Soon after finalising its creative agency in M&C Saatchi last month, Jet Airways has also decided its media partner. Following a multi-agency pitch, Starcom has walked away with the business. Industry sources inform that Jet Airways has increased its ad spends and is now in the region of over Rs 100 crore.
Starcom is quite on the winning spree. Close on the heels of wins like Future Group, ING Vysya and Himalaya, the agency has bagged the media duties of Jet Airways. Sources on the client's side confirm the development. Industry sources inform that Jet Airways has increased its ad spends and is now in the region of over Rs 100 crore. As is known, the account was in the custodianship of Network Advertising until the pitch called in August 2006, when Network and Jet decided mutually to end their six year long relation.
Where Network has handling both media and creative, following the pitch, M&C Saatchi was awarded the creative duties. As was the case with M&C Saatchi, this is a global win for Starcom. In addition to India, Starcom would be working on the Jet account in 11 other international markets that Jet operates in.
It is learnt that Jet's intentions to actively advertise in these markets -- unlike its strategy earlier that concentrated only on India -- is also a reason for the increase in the advertising budget, which was previously in the vicinity of Rs 50 crore .
At the time of filing the story, Jet or Starcom officials were not available for comments.
