The ‘Mauka Mauka’ campaign by Star Sports was one of the most talked about ad campaigns of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015. Given its tremendous popularity on social media, this year too Star Sports is back with their new ‘Mauka Mauka’ campaign, just ahead of the India-Pakistan clash on 19th March, 2016. Like last year, the campaign has been conceptualised by the in-house team of Star Sports.

In the new ad, an emotional appeal by a Pakistani fan, played by Vikas Malhotra (who also appeared in the previous Mauka films), to Shahid Afridi urging the team to win this World Cup builds on its previous campaigns and captures the classic rivalry of the India-Pak cricket clash.

There was a lot of buzz on social media, with people using the hashtag #MaukaMauka and sharing the new video. On Wednesday, Mobikwik and few other brands used the hashtag to promote their own contests and hopped on to the ‘Mauka Mauka’ bandwagon.

In 2015, the channel used the popularity of the ‘Mauka Mauka’ ads to promote the ‘Pro-Kabaddi League’- Season 2, for which they had roped in Salman Khan. This move was welcomed by the experts, mainly because of the timing to promote this property after cricket, and to infuse excitement among the viewers.
