After initially putting on hold its plan to relaunch Channel 7 as IBN 7, Global Broadcast News (GBN) is going ahead with its original plan and renaming its Hindi news channel as IBN 7 from this Independence Day, August 15.
Speaking with exchange4media, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN and Channel 7, said, “From our perspective, it’s like the launching of a new Hindi channel from our group. There will be a complete change in the look and feel of the channel. It will be closer to the CNN-IBN channel so that it looks part of our family.”
IBN 7 will go live with its new look from 6 AM on August 15. The channel will feature an exclusive interview with Sachin Tendulkar on Independence Day.
About the programming, Ashutosh, Managing Editor, Channel 7, said, “We will reschedule a few programmes in a few weeks. We will also add some more news-based programmes within a month.”
After GBN bought into Jagran TV in February this year, taking over editorial and distribution control, the channel was relaunched with a fresh look on June 5.
