John Furtado, Vice-President – Media, Emami Ltd, passed away on March 21, 2011, due to pneumonia-related complications.
Furtado had enhanced visibility of Emami and Zandu brands through strategic media planning and efficient media buying. At Emami Ltd, he had also introduced consumer connect programmes to enhance brand visibilty, recall and trials.
While at Whitespace Communications, Furtado was instrumental in singlehandedly getting new business amidst competition from big agencies. The wins included Elder Pharma, Kiah, Sri Adhikari Brothers for launch of their new Marathi channel Mi Marathi, and Tata Motors scheme advertising from its existing agency Rediffusion Y&R, among others.
In the course of his career, Furtado had also worked with agencies like Mode Advertising, TBWA Anthem, Rediffusion Y&R, Mudra Communications, Everest Advertising, and Lintas India.
