Day 1 of SDC implementation: Over 6.5k certs generated on PCI portal
More than 80% entries for Print category
Over 6,500 self-declaration certificates for advertisements have been generated on the Press Council of India portal as per the Supreme Court’s mandate.
The buffer period for complying with the SC order ended yesterday (June 18).
Out of the certificates uploaded, about 82 per cent (more than 5400) of entries were for Print. Only about 1,100 entries were for the Internet (digital) category, which includes static and video.
More than 150 entries were named ‘demo’, ‘tester’, ‘dummy’ indicating the industry is still trying to figure out the portal and how the certificate needs to be generated.
In our earlier story, the industry players had shared how ad revenue can’t stop and business has to run as usual, especially with marquee events like the T20 World Cup going on.
Among the applications submitted, some of the brands seen were Dermicool, Hyundai, Navratna Cool, Daawat Basmati rice, Boroplus and Maggi. Among the BFSI players were HDFC Life, Bajaj Allianz Life, BharatPe and Upstox.
