Promax|BDA Awards 2006 kick off in Mumbai today
The third Promax|BDA Awards to recognise the work done in the field of promos will take place on July 11 and 12, 2006. The Awards are commencing on July 11 with Jim Chabin, CEO, Promax|BDA, and Sameer Nair, COO, STAR Group, who is assuming the role of the Conference Chair for the second consecutive year.

The opening address will be followed by a series of seminars.
The Promax|BDA India Awards Ceremony 2006 would take place on July 12. Last year, STAR India had swept the awards with 12 Golds and 11 Silvers. The other winners of last year included NGC Network, BCCL (Zoom), SET India, MTV Networks, MCCS, TV Today, Turner International, Zee Telefilms, Discovery Channels, Hungama TV and CNBC TV-18. The awards had covered a total of 32 categories – 23 coming in the Promax Awards and rest in BDA.
The first of the several seminars lined up is ‘Reflections on Marketing and Promotion in Indian Cinema’ by filmmaker Rakeysh Mehra on July 11. This will be followed by ‘Digital Distribution Platforms: The Next Wave’ by Reliance Entertainment’s Rajesh Sawhney, which will run simultaneously with ‘The Story of STAR One’ by Ajay Vidyasagar of STAR India, and ‘A-Z Hints and Tips on Producing a Promo’, which will be a workshop conducted by Sheila Byrne.
Also featuring at the event would be ‘D’Cadence - Extreme Makeover: A television Reality’ by Obeida Sidani, and ‘Formlessness - The new Source of Power’ by Bhaskar Das.
Following that, exchange4media Editor-in-Chief, Anurag Batra, would be speaking on the ‘Best of Indian Commercials’. Simultaneously running would be Hungama.com’s Neeraj Roy, who will speak on ‘Monetising the 3rd Screen Music, Movies, and More’. Other simultaneously running seminars would be ‘How Did He Do That?’ by Phillip Dupee; ‘Entertainment in its New Avatar’ by Pawan Gandhi; ‘You Have No Idea’ by Chris Lee; and ‘Sports Promotion: Beer Ads without Beer’ by Mitch McManus.
The day will also see Promax/BDA, USA, CEO, Jim Chabin talk on ‘State of Our Art’.
Day two of the ceremony will begin with the PSA Challenge, which is a Student Promo Challenge. The workshop by Sheila Byrne will continue too. The seminars for the day include ‘Glocal: Global Ideas for Local TV Brands’ by Sandep Rahi, which will run simultaneously with M K Anand’s ‘Paying the Piper Without getting Out of Tune’
Other seminars to be held on the second day of the Awards include, ‘The Two Greatest Jobs in the World’ by Geoff Calnan; ‘Tough Crowd’ by Peter Drake; ‘The Power Of Reward’ by Richard Holman; ‘Localizing International Brands’ by Nachiket Pantvaidya; ‘Content is Still King- But Somebody Has Pimped his Ride’ by Nigel Robbins; and ‘The Ocean’s Eleven Approach to Creativity’ by Andy Bryant.
