Prosenjit Datta is the new Editor of BusinessWorld

Ananda Bazar Patrika has appointed Prosenjit Datta as the Editor of Businessworld.

Ananda Bazar Patrika (ABP) has appointed Prosenjit Datta as the Editor of Businessworld. The position was left vacant following the exit of Jehangir Pocha. Datta currently heads the editorial function of ABP web and telecom digital. He assumes the new role with immediate effect.

Confirming the news to exchange4media, Datta said, “Businessworld is a great brand to work with and I have loved working here. This new role is, in a way, going back to the place you know so well.”

Datta started his career as trainee journalist in the features section of The Economic Times. He then switched to Business Standard and spent seven years there. He was the Features Editor with overall responsibility for all the sections by the time he quit BS in 1997.

He briefly experimented with a corporate career and joined Reliance. In 1999, he switched back to journalism by joining Businessworld as Senior Editor when it was being revamped to a weekly. He became the Executive Editor in 2000, and handled Businessworld editorial operations till February 2007. Datta is a pass out of ‘Guru Nanak Dev University’, Amritsar (Punjab).
