Partho Sengupta, Creative Director at Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi, has recently put in his papers, and has joined BBDO India as Senior Brand Design Director. He will report to CEO Pankaj Mridul and will handle the 7 UP business.

In October 2007, Chris Thomas, Chairman and CEO, BBDO Asia, had announced the creation of BBDO India, with 7 UP as its first brand assignment.

Commenting on Sengupta’s appointment, Mridul said, “Sengupta’s main role will be to look after the 7 UP business, and many others which are in the pipeline. We appointed him as he has the skill set that we were looking for.”

Sengupta said, “I am excited to work with BBDO India. My main task will be to raise the bar in this highly cluttered soft drink market. My agenda will be to work for advertising films and I am looking forward to the good work coming up my way.”

At Rediffusion DY&R, Sengupta looked after the creative work on non-Airtel brands, since September 2006. Only three months ago, he joined the Airtel team. Sengupta began his career in advertising field 13 years ago with Lowe (then Lintas), Kolkata. After spending nearly three years there, he moved on to work with Bates Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus), Delhi, as Creative Consultant. He then joined Mudra Communications, Delhi, as Senior Art Director, where he spent three years.

After short stints in the Delhi offices of Saatchi & Saatchi and Euro RSCG, Sengupta switched to Cheil Communications, where he was Creative Director for two years. He then had a short stint at Dentsu Marcom, Delhi. In his long career, Sengupta has worked on brands such as Samsung; Sony TV and Handycams; McDonald’s; Maruti; Mitsubishi Lancer; Hyundai’s Santro Xing, Elantra and Sonata; HBO and DT Cinemas.
