Roar India, ROAR!

It’s that time of the year again. What makes Cannes Lions the most awaited awards festival? In terms of size, it is easily the biggest advertising awards festival there is. In terms of execution, its pre and post awards activities ensure that it is talked about through the year. And the event itself, we are assured by so many that have been there, is simply the best there is. The International Advertising Festival - Cannes Lions – is now in its 53rd year.

Over 10,000 visitors from the advertising and allied industries will head to Cannes for a week, from June 18, to attend and celebrate the best of creativity, discuss industry issues and network. A record 24,863 entries from 81 countries will compete for the coveted Lions.

At this year’s festival, a new category has been launched. Promo Lions will award creative excellence in the areas of Sales Promotion, including Retail Marketing, Environmental Design, In-Store Advertising and Media. The jury will look for entries that create ‘immediate activation’, and will award Lions to the freshest creative ideas. Several new awards have been introduced, including Media Agency of the Year; and Gold, Silver and Bronze Media Lions trophies. Another change is that a separate Outdoor Jury President will head a dedicated jury voting solely on entries in the Outdoor section. This, say organizers, will allow for a clearer judging of the entries based on the merit of their medium without being influenced by how they perform if also entered in the Press competition.
