Starcom is on quite a winning spree. Close on the heels of wins like Future Group, ING Vysya and Himalaya, the agency has now bagged the media duties of Jet Airways. Sources on the client side have confirmed the development. As is known, the account was in the custodianship of Network Advertising till August 2006, when Network and Jet decided mutually to end their six-year-long relation.

It is reliably learnt that Jet Airways has increased its ad spends and is now in the region of over Rs 100 crore.

Whereas Network was handling both media and creative, following the pitch, M&C Saatchi was awarded the creative duties. As in the case with M&C Saatchi, this too is a global win for Starcom. In addition to India, Starcom would be working on the Jet account in 11 other international markets that Jet operates in.

It is learnt that Jet’s intentions to actively advertise in these markets -- unlike its strategy earlier that concentrated only on India -- is also a reason for the increase in the advertising budget, which was previously in the vicinity of Rs 50 crore.

At the time of filing the story, Jet or Starcom officials were not available for comments.
