Wieden+Kennedy (W+K), the US-headquartered advertising agency, has announced that it has received certification for incorporation from the Indian government to open its newest network office, W+K India, which would be located in Delhi. W+K is entering India as a standalone agency.

As reported by exchange4media.com on September 3, 2007, W+K is all geared up for this launch, and is currently in the process of staffing the office and would be announcing management and creative hires at a later time.

“We will be a full-service, independent creative agency,” said Dave Luhr, Global COO, W+K, in a prepared statement. “We are excited by the opportunities in India and look forward to becoming part of the landscape in Delhi. While there has been a bit of speculation in the media that we would be working with a partner agency in India, we have made the commitment to build a standalone, world-class creative organisation in India that will be the eighth office for Wieden+Kennedy.”

Luhr added, “Our first priority will be to service the Nokia business in India. Long-term, we will grow our Delhi operation with a mixture of multinational and local accounts. We are deep into the process of meeting with potential candidates in India and expect to be making announcements in the coming weeks about new hires for our India office.”

This addition will bring the number of W+K network offices to eight, including Portland, New York, London, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing and now Delhi. Wieden+Kennedy, founded in Portland, Oregon, is one of the largest independently owned advertising agencies in the world. A full-service, creatively led communications company, W+K has helped build some of the strongest global brands, including Nike, ESPN, Starbucks, Honda, Electronic Arts, P&G and Coca-Cola.

The company has announced that it has leased temporary office space at Level 12, Tower C, Building #8, Cyber City Complex, Gurgaon-122002. “We will be located in Gurgaon through the spring of 2008,” said Luhr. “We are currently looking at permanent office space now and hope to move into that space next spring.”
