Working mothers should craft their village of support across home & office: Aditi Mishra
Ahead of Mother’s Day on May 14, Lodestar UM CEO Aditi Mishra tells us what it takes to balance motherhood and career
She is a career driven woman, running a big media agency, and is a mother of two. For Aditi Mishra, CEO, Lodestar UM, “there are no wrongs” when it comes to choosing between the roles of a working professional and a mom. For her, the biggest challenge of being a mother and a working woman is balancing both the roles and prioritizing rightly as there are days “when a birthday party clashes with a pitch.”
“The biggest challenge is balancing the demands of both the roles well and choosing what one needs to prioritize at a given time. There are no wrongs. Every choice is between two important options.
“There are meetings or PTMs, there are days when a birthday party and a pitch clash. The key is to have a good support structure both at work and home which enables bringing the best possible to every day. As they say, it takes a village to bring up a child,” Mishra told exchange4media.
For working mothers out there, this all-rounder mom has just one advice – craft your village of support.
“Craft your village of support across home and office. Never ever be afraid to ask for help and do not beat yourself if you miss something. You are a perfect mom just as you are!” Mishra told exchange4media.
Her 19-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter helped Mishra in her recently conducted research about whether all GenZ have the same mindset and buying behaviour.
“Both my children are Gen Z and so I often experience their lingo and mindset first-hand. It was fascinating to see some of the trends being borne out across geos and age groups,” she said.
For this CEO, the idea of success has not changed after becoming a mother but new facets have been added.
“Success to me was always about becoming the best version of myself. Being a mother just helped to add new facets to consider across other dimensions,” she said, adding that the best thing about being a mother is the closeness you feel to someone who was a part of you as they grow and become their own person.
