Gireesh Sanghi, Chairman and Managing Director of Vaarttha, the newspaper from Andhra Pradesh has been nominated as Rajya Sabha candidate from Congress in Andhra Pradesh. Sanghi is the second media baron to be chosen by congress to represent itself after Vijay Darda of Lokmat was put up from Maharashtra last week. Darda is the son of late Congress leader Jawaharlal Darda and chief of the Lokmat group of publications.

Bajaj Auto has chalked out plans to launch a motorcycle in the highest-selling executive segment as its two models — Caliber 115 and Wind 125 — have not performed according to expectations. Although the company officials have not spelt out what the vehicle will be named and its price, the new two-wheeler is expected to be priced lower than Hero Honda Splendor, which is at present the highest selling vehicle in that category.

The government has dropped the idea of framing a stand-alone legislation on sport telecast rights, it is learnt. Following the controversy over sharing of Indo-Pak cricket telecast feed a few months ago, the information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry, under the NDA government, had indicated its willingness to go for a sport rights legislation.
