In India, the only sports raking in the moolah is cricket. While there have been flashes in the pan now and then for other sports like hockey, tennis, football, most other sports in India have lagged behind, when compared to cricket. But the scenario is gradually changing, and bringing sports marketing under the scanner, the Indian Sports Marketing Forum 2008 is being held in the Capital on September 12. This event is being organised by the exchange4media Group in association with Indian Sports Equity Foundation.
‘In India, PR only stands for press relations’
Vinod G Nair, MD, CleaPublic Relations, is quite candid when he says that in India the PR function is not public relations at all, but only ‘press relations’.
