11 Indian entries shortlisted in Design Lions; 1 in Cyber

There are 11 entries from India in the Design shortlist. These included two each from Ogilvy India and JWT India; and one entry each from Red Lion Publicis, Publicis Ambience, Cheil Worldwide India, Bates 141, Karigari Design, Leo Burnett India and Contract Advertising. There is only one India shortlist in Cyber Lions, which is from Bates 141.

The entries that have made it to the Design Lions and Cyber Lions shortlists were announced at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival on June 23, 2009. There are 11 entries from India in the Design shortlist and only one in Cyber Lions.

Healthy shortlist in Design

The 11 Indian entries included two from Ogilvy India – one for Nalini Prabhakar and second for the work done for the agency itself, and two from JWT India –for Sulekha.com and for Maharashtra Janavikas Kendra. There is one entry each from Red Lion Publicis for Sulakshna Kulkarni Cricket Academy; Publicis Ambience for Cancer Patients Aid Association; Cheil Worldwide India for Samsung India; Bates 141 for T C Ghai, Karigari Design for soap cards; Leo Burnett India for P&G’s Tide and Contract Advertising for Cadbury India.

In comparison to the 134 works that India had entered last year, this year there were only 93 pieces of work from India in this category. India had won three Design Lions last year.

The Jury President is Sylvia Vitale Rotta, CEO, Team Creatif, and the Indian juror for Design Lions is Sujata Keshavan Guha, MD & ECD, Rav & Keshavan.

Bates 141 sole ray of hope to win a Cyber Lion

The only Cyber Lions is from Bates 141 for the work done for Greenpeace.

There were 25 entries from India this year; last year this number was at 19.

The Jury President is Lars Bastholm, Chief Digital Creative Officer, AKQA, and the Indian juror is Meera Sharath Chandra.
