The entries that have made it to the shortlist of Film Lions were announced on June 25, 2009 at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. Jury President David Lubars, who was also the Jury President for Print Lions, seems to have exercised the ‘strictness’ rule in the Film Lions as well.

India camp is significantly disappointed with only three entries in the shortlist. Two entries titled ‘A Day in the Life of Chennai’ are from JWT India for the work done for Bennett, Coleman and Company Ltd. (BCCL) for The Times of India. And one is from TBWA India for the work done for Multiscreen Media for Indian Premier League.

India had in all sent 50 entries for Film Lions. Agnello Dias was the Indian juror in this category.
